How To Get That Glow

We all want glowing skin, right? I know I do. Not sweaty skin, like I’ve been carrying groceries on one arm and a kid on the other while wearing booties, but glowy, dewy awesomeness like I’ve misted my face with rosewater and drank my day’s worth of water with lemon, and no coffee.

That’ll never happen. So I rely on products that will fake this youthful glow.

Here are some of my faves and how to use them. I kept this list on the green/natural side since I love using clean products whenever I can.

After washing my face for the day with lukewarm water, I prep my skin with a boost of vitamins and antioxidants. I love SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic serum. It is loaded with everything you need to boost moisture and protect from free radical damage from the sun.

I have been using the same daytime moisturizer for years. It isn’t necessarily “green,” but it is paraben- and fragrance-free and it’s rich and noncomedogenic so I keep it in the fold. La Roche-Posay Toleriane Riche is a simple, super-moisturizing cream that I just can’t quit.

I have tried out my fair share of primers and I am so impressed with Vapour Organic Beauty’s Stratus Soft Focus Skin Perfector. It goes on a bit creamy, which helps my skin feel even more moisturized, and creates this glowy, dewy canvas for my makeup and sunblock. You can wear it alone with no makeup and it shrinks pores and creates an even skin tone. A must!

As someone who has had non-melanoma skin cancer, I am very picky about sun care and I protect my face daily. Lately I have been really into Beautycounter’s Dew Skin SPF 20. It has won the Allure Beauty Award and rightfully so—it is protection with a touch of coverage and a great glow. Sometimes I don’t even put concealer on, it’s that awesome. If I’m out all day, I make sure to reapply!

I have had my favorites over the years, but so far nothing has had more staying power, reapplication magic and perfect dew-like finish than this one. Vapour Organic Beauty’s Atmosphere Luminous Foundation stick is a must in your makeup kit. I wear it for every day and also when I’m on camera. I can touch it up, it doesn't get dry and flakey and it’s invisible on my skin. It covers what I need but doesn’t hide my actual skin.

I have found my power duo for this. I add some contour to my cheeks with Vapour Organic Beauty’s Aura Multi-Use in Courtesan. It is the perfect “I pinched my cheeks” rose/pink and you can also add it to your lips for a pop of warmth. I then highlight with Rituel De Fille’s Rare Light Luminizer in Anthelion. This creamy product adds highlights anywhere you want them—cheekbones, collarbone, brow bones—it’s perfection.

At night, I cleanse with the gentle Nourishing Creme Cleanser from Beautycounter. It is hydrating, doesn’t strip my skin of its natural oils and is gentle enough to use every day. It also gets the day off and any type of makeup, even when I’ve been on a shoot—everything comes off with one wash

I have been super scared to try a Retinol cream because I have sensitive skin, but I was curious about the benefits of using one. They are supposed to be the best defense against aging skin and helpful in producing more collagen. My aesthetician who is very biased toward natural products told me about a product that has vitamin A but is on the more natural side of any of the products on the market containing it. Osmosis Pur Medical Skincare’s Renew Serum Level 4 has quickly become one of my favorites for anti-aging in my skin care routine. And the bonus is it never irritated my skin.

I was so hesitant to put oil on my face. I mean, I hate breaking out and I was afraid I’d wake up with a face full of pimples and blackheads. Nope, not the case. If you do your research and get the right oils, they are noncomedogenic and won’t cause breakouts. My go-to is the Eminence Facial Recovery Oil. I use it on its own or I mix it with my night cream for a boost. It is so rejuvenating and I feel the added boost of moisture right away! I even love layering it on after a long day in the sun in the summer. I also really like Beautycounter’s Soothing Face Oil. It is also a great boost of moisture and very calming to my skin.

Ever since trying Juice Beauty’s Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Overnight Cream on a whim, I am sold! This is a rich, hydrating night cream that smells amazing and I rest assured knowing I am using something very natural.. I use it alone or mix it with one of my nighttime oils for an extra boost!
